I bought a new ilok, I've been a MachFive user for several years and loved it. I upgraded to version 2 and Now I hate Motu so bad I'll never buy another piece of their gear! If Motu wants to safegaurd their products that's fine. Don't make me go through a coded maze of dork ass B.S. to get an expensive product to work when I would have been happier with something else or even with nothing at all. I'm a songwriter, not a dorked out code idiot. You've made hundreds of dollars off my purchase and it should FLAT OUT WORK!

What the hell are you talking about anyway?

iLok is THE BEST thing. It's SO easy to set it up, and it makes it SO easy to migrate or restore your apps. You can also take it anywhere you go...

Why do you have a problem with it? Do you want any help, or are you here just to bitch?

Besides, didn't you know about the iLok thing BEFORE you upgraded?

If you couldn't figure out the "coded maze" than I must question your intelligence. Furthermore your post is nothing more than a "rant" and as such I've moved it to the appropriate forum. I think you should dump your HD192 since you're so upset about having an iLok, btw.

Your story doesn't add up. MachFive has always had an iLok. What happened to the original one that was required to use MachFive all these years?

I was going to say... You guys beat me to it. I've had MachFive since the first version came out and it's always been with an iLok. Oh yeah, MachFive 2 works just great with my iLok too.

Your post seems to indicate that you are exactly what you say you are not. M5 working fine here...always has.

Iloks take a few steps to use but if you have done it once it is not all that hard. If we lived in a world where people did not pirate software we would not need things like iLok but we all live in the real world and there for such things have a need. I find this rant a bit crazy.

You're not describing exactly what the issue is. You bought a new iLok, and what? Are you trying to transer the MachFive 2 license to it? Are you sure it's MOTU's fault, and not the iLok itself? Is it being recognized? Did you register it at iLok.com?

I bought MachFive2 and have had no problems whatsoever in this regard. I was able to transfer licenses between iLoks on my system, too.

Maybe just a bit more info would help....if it's a legitimate product, that is! Methinks maybe a pirate in our midst?

I didn't want to jump too quickly to conclusions (as I usually do and get in trouble for this)... but he did imply his old MachFive did not require an iLok, which has been proved to be a lie.

So the question would be, how did he manage to get his first version of MachFive to work WITHOUT an iLok?

His posting history suggests he's legit. Like me, not a heavy poster although he's been around a while-since 2006 or so although he changed his ID last winter.

Also, didn't the M5v2 upgrade come with a chip instead of a full iLock? Maybe he bought an iLock to put the chip in (rather than replace his old chip, as other auths might be on it) and encountered some issues. A little over the top with his tone, but we've all had our moments here.

My MachFive 2 upgrade just required a download of the license from ilok.com. No chip here.

There was a chip involved in some MOTU upgrade, and I only have two things from MOTU that use iLok: Mach 5 and MSI. It was one or the other. Maybe both. Wait… there was never an upgrade to MSI. It had to be Mach 5.2. I'm sure it was.

You just inserted a chip into the iLok, and I think pulled it back out again. That encoded whatever it needed to know.
