Is there any way to use the S/PDIF on the 828 mk3 as a send / return to insert a reverb unit?

With a DAW, assign the send to the 828mk3 S/PDIF output and for the return create an Aux (or audio) track with the 838mk3 S/PDIF input as the input to the Aux (or audio) track. If you're doing this with CueMix FX in a live mixer scenario, you'll need to setup a mix buss with S/PDIF as the output - that will be the send side. The return will be the S/PDIF input in the mains mix buss (usually buss 1). Clock your reverb unit to S/PDIF to avoid any sync issues. All assuming that the verb has digital I/O.

Of course 5 minutes after I posted I found the solution - use a separate bus. I used Bus 2 for all inputs that will get the outboard effect and set it's primary output to S/PDIF 1-2. Then on Bus 1 the S/PDIF input is the return and I can mix that in as desired.
