Log in problems

All of a sudden (the past three days) whenever I go to this site, it asks me to log in. I'm on the same computer as for the last 2 years, auto log-in is checked. But several times now this has happened. Anyone have any ideas. I'll do the usual maintenance, but even that is set up for automatic. Strange.

Don't know. Are you on Snow Leopard and Safari. It happens to me too on my Mac Pro, but never on my ipad , so I don't know if it's the new Safari maybe. Either way, it is what it is.

Never a problem on my G5 (under Leo or Tiger) and a PC at the office connected via ethernet, but a regular irritant on my old G3 laptop (Leo), connected wirelessly.

Been happening to me too for the last few weeks.... Snow Leopard and newest version of Safari.
No problems on iPad too.
Cheers

Once or twice a month for me. If it asks, be sure to check that the auto login button is clicked when you do re-log in.

Thanks for the replies. This is an iMac 2.8 ghz, 4 gig ram, 10.6.4, and latest Safari. So like James said, "it is what it is." Just a little annoying at times. It did this about a year ago on another site, and after a few log-ins, it just went away. Maybe it will just go away again.

It happens all the time to me and I suspect some incompatibility with the latest Safari and Snow Leopard.

Check out 1password:
http://agilewebsolutions.com/products/1Password
It's one of the best apps on the Mac. Because I use a manager like this I never care about login issues when they happen (on any site).

Hey - I see you are in SanDiego. I lived there for over 22 years. Sure do miss the place. But I got tired of the fabulous weather and that 5million other people were enjoying it too. Lived in PB, OB, Point Loma, University City, Del Mar, and Escondido. Played golf a lot at Torrey Pines. Played music at several places around the city. Lost my favorite guitar there - a 1965 Gibson ES335. Had to pay rent. Came back East for thunder storms and the railroad.

I've been asked to log in a lot recently too. My ID and Password are already in the login screen, so I just have to click on the login box. So something like a password manager is not going to make any difference (in my case at least). I assumed the cause was James resetting the autologin feature as recent miscreants are "exited".

The password manager (1password) is good if you ever use different browsers. I tend to use Safari and but if I switch to Firefox I have the same logins available on all sites.

It happens every couple of minutes for me, so I have to remember to always save my replies on the clipboard in case it gets lost during yet another login prompt when I try to post.
This may be Safari related, as I use that browser for quick hit-and-runs when going back and forth between project work and followup on a particular topic in the forum, simply because Safari is my least favourite browser so I don't save any session bookmarks there, hencce making it a lighter browser to load than the others (paradoxically, since its overall footprint it greater than that of Opera, Firefox, or Camino).
I have otherwise been having horrible problems with Safari crashes lately, for almost anything other than MOTUnation. I'm pretty sure I even skipped the most recent update, as I'm trying to keep my aging G4 stable before the inevitible computer switch later this summer.

Weirdest thing... had it happen to me today a couple of times and so I launched FireFox instead and not once so far today.

I don’t think it’s safari, I’ve had it using icab. Totally random, usually coming from a reply notification email. It’s says log and be taken to the page you requested. I log in and I’m not taken to the page.
Oh well. I’ve got bigger problems.
