Motu Ultralite and Audio 8 conflict

Hi
I'm hoping someone can help with an ongoing problem I have with my Motu Ultralite and my Native Instruments Audio 8. I'm going to try and explain this the best I can and the following link is to a diagram of my setup which you might also find useful. http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/2781/setuphu.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I basically have a small bedroom studio setup and space for equipment is tight. I have my Ultralite permanently connected to my laptop when using it for music production. I also occasionally connect a Native Instruments Audio 8 when I want to use Traktor Scrtach Pro and my turntables (see diagram link) to DJ with.

The problem I'm having is when I connect a second interface (Audio 8) and use TSP I experience slight drop outs and glitches in the audio playback and when monitoring on headphones. Having posted my problem numerous times on the NI forum its come to light that maybe there is an issue with the AD-DA conversion (I'm not too sure what this is). I've matched the sample rates on both interfaces and altered the latency settings in TSP but it has made little difference.

When I've used my laptop with the Audio 8 only in nightclubs its worked fine.

My question is... Can I pass thru my Ultralite without disconnecting it?
In a perfect world I should have my power monitors connected to my Xone42 (see diagram link) or a second spare of speakers for my DJ setup but as aforementioned, space (and money) is tight to achieve this.

I know this is a little vague so please ask any questions that you might needs answering in order to help solve my problem

Thanks in advance!

What type of connections are you using between the devices and computers? If digital, then you make be having a clocking problem.

My laptop is connected to the Audio 8 via usb and my ultralite is only connected to my monitor speakers and dj mixer via audio cables.

I've tried having both the Audio 8 and Ultralite connected at the same time with digital cables but it makes no difference.

Hi,

I have the same setup as you (pretty much).

What you need to do is disconnect the MOTU Ultralite interfaces when DJing so it's operating as a standalone audio mixer - Just throughputting audio directly to your speakers without any latency. This can be done by using cuemix before disconnecting the MOTU or by using the LCD display (much faster with cuemix).

Have you downloaded the latest drivers from MOTU's website?

Hey, thanks!
I haven't downloaded any new drivers lately so I'll do that when I get home tonight.

Can you tell me how I bypass in Cue Mix? Is there a button?

Thanks

Definitely get the newest drivers and try that first, but failing that:

Select 2 inputs on the back of your ultralite - Analog 3 & 4 for example and connect your DJ mixer output into these.

Make sure audio from your DJ mixer is going to ultralite. Open CueMix. Go to mixes tab and unmute the group which has audio coming through (Analog 3 & 4).

Should be able to hear with zero latency now and as both interfaces aren't plugged in you shouldn't have any clocking issues between them.

Hope it helps.
