gday everyone

after a series of power outs my windows 7 pc stopped booting. It frooze up on starting windows. After booting to safe mode and disabling the motu 64 bit drivers It began to boot normally.

Stupidly i removed the drivers from device manager and now can't unistall or repair from programs. It keeps giving me "there is a problem with the installer package" during removal and just freezes for a while with s samlle box saying MOTU MIDI driver (i dont know why MIDI?) and then says it cannot compete the uninstall as files have been altered. I was using the .2 drivers previously and have now downloaded .5 but it wont let me upgrade unless I remove the old install.

Is a format the only fix? For now I have removed the PCI-e card.

before this my 2408mk3 worked flawlessly with my windows 7 and tascam dm24 setup.

I appreciate any help. Cheers.

OZ Thrasher, this sounds like the issue that loads of us have had over the last few days with the PCI 424 card taking Win 7 down and Windows freezing on boot.

Try this: go into your BIOS, put the date back a few weeks, reboot and you should boot back ino Windows. Then install the latest drivers and then reset your BIOS date back to today. Quite what the explanation is is anyone's guess, but with some serious deadlines to meet it's been a very scary few days.

Cheers

Stephen

thanks for the advice mate. Worked well.

What worked to fix this problem was the following:

-first setting the bios clock back to when the drivers worked.
-this then allowed me to remove the drivers in programs and features
-ensure no motu drivers are present in device manager.
-Remove PCI Card from motherboard
-Install latest drivers for the 2408mk3
-Install PCI Card

Cheers
