MachFive not working since clean OS install

I had to do a clean install and am now in the process of replacing all my registrations and authorizations etc, to get my plug ins working again.

The only one left not working is MachFive 1. I've got the sounds on an external drive so all that's missing is whatever files were wiped off the system drive during the install.
MOTU tech says MachFive 1 will not work with OS 10.5 so I should upgrade. I told him it WAS working and I just want to know how to get those missing files back. His reply is that it DOESN'T work and I need to upgrade.

So... I'm sure you guys know more about it than he does. What do you think I need? (other than upgrading) :)

Yiayyy!.

The MOTU tech will not tell me what files I need to get MachFive working.
I keep telling him IT WAS WORKING FOR YEARS. And the only thing that stopped it from working was my clean install. So all I need to know is what files are missing from the system drive. BUT HE WON'T TELL ME because "no matter what you do it won't work with system 10.5".

Does any body out there know what I can try? What I'm missing? It's not on the installer disk.

According to your signature you are on Snow Leopard..... 10.6, so you definitely need to upgrade to MachFive 2.... V1 will not work.

Cheers

Stephen

Are you absolutely sure that it was 10.5, "Leopard" that you had MachFive working with? I could possibly  be wrong, but I'm ALMOST positive that MachFive2 was required for "10.5 Leopard". Your signature states that you're on "Snow Leopard" and I can tell you for sure that it won't work with Snow Leopard.

Actually, I'm pretty sure MachFive 1 worked on Leopard. I know I used it on my G5 with 10.5.8. On the other hand it's no-go at all with Snow Leopard. I don't think it will even appear in the plug-in menu.

Sounds like the MOTU guy he talked to is mistaken.........

I'd hate to say that for sure, but I'm pretty certain I was able to run the latest version of Mach Five 1 on my G5 in Leopard. I know that I could launch either version. I'd have to fire up the G5 which is semi-mothballed right now to be 100% sure. Perhaps it's not "officially supported" or it might have been the AU version. I'm really not hankering to dig out a monitor, keyboard and mouse and boot the G5 right now just to find out though. :(

I certainly understand that!!! You made a good point that I hadn't thought of; maybe the AU version will work.....Hmmmmmmm That may be worth a try for the original poster! Good one!

This is my understanding as well. However, it seems that there are some who have been able to get MachFive 1 to work on Leopard.

Be that as it may, I think the operative word in that tech note is "support."

As I recall it worked okay on my G5 with Leopard. I'm too lazy to hook up a monitor, keyboard and mouse to it to take a screen capture for everyone... but I'm pretty certain it was fine.

Here's the problem I think.

I don't think that Mach V v1 was Universal Binary so if you are running Intel it is likely running via Rosetta. If you're running Snow Leopard then you are definately on Intel platform.

James - yours might have run because it was 10.5 on a G5.

I think the added layer of Rosetta probably results in the incompatibility with at least 10.6 and maybe 10.5 on Intel machines.
