828mk2 Help needed!

Greetings MOTUNation, I hope I've come to the right place. I've been the happy owner of my 828mk2 firewire for what seems like forever, but is closer to 6 years maybe, and it has been problem free. Well mostly, other than I would get obnoxious signal spikes on the SPDIF input. Sounded terrible and would scare the crap out of me, so I muted that since I never used the SPDIF anyhow. However just today I was using it, and first the headphone jack just stopped outputting. THis wasn't the end of the world, but it sucked, though shortly afterward it got worse. After having looked away for maybe a half hour, I returned to find all the input meter LED's at peak, and the master out LED at half, seemingly frozen this way, and only top of the LCD screen is showing, though the word GAIN is jumping about. When I reboot it, after unplugging everything, the meter input LED's flash around like something is happening, and then go full and stay. Even after I turn off, and switch the red switch on the side on and off a few times, turning it back to the right voltage, still no improvement. Alas, I fear this may be the end of my might MOTU. What should I do??!!??

Guess I did come to the wrong place. Either no one else here has ever had something similar happen, or you guys are douches. Not sure which, but I doubt I'm the only person with a problem, so I figure it must be the second choice. Thanks a lot guys.

I guess your right. If I wasn't such a douche, I probably would not have even responded to this. Good luck...................

All I can add is: I've had problems over the years with my MkII. MOTU has fixed all fo them for free. Recently, my LCD screen faded away and I called MOTU. They gave me an RDA and sent my MkII back with a new screen and again for free. About 4 years out of warranty... so give MOTU a call. Things break.

jjhp3, thanks man!!! I didn't realize they would do something like that even after I've had this for so long. I'll call them first thing tomorrow. Good to see some people are willing to share information with someone in need. I really appreciate it.

Dan Walsh: You are a douche, and your post didn't even make sense.

When are these (only joined to get help) losers going to realize that there's a right and wrong way to ask for help? I'm really starting to get bent out of shape when people EXPECT to get an IMMEDIATE response to a post!!!!
Hey genius, you're not going to get ANY help or sympathy for your friggin problems when you act like an ARSE!!!!!!

I was gonna chirp a bit more, but I didn't really wanna swim in this. Kinda reminds me of the South Park episode where the choice was a Douche or a T-Sandwich......

Wildman0420 has proved he is truly an individual of the highest calibre whose genteel manners and restraint defy condemnation. I can only hope my daughter someday finds and marries a man as worthy as he. From this day forth we will carry the banner for this upstanding MOTU interface user. May his name be hallowed within clouds of herbacious rectumtude come each April 20, and may his legendary stoniness be celebrated by his mother and father, and their mothers and fathers, ad infinitum, ney, ad nauseam.

Yeah... sometimes I think people forget this is user run forum and ANYONE who answers their question is doing so out for their own generosity. Not a single person here is obligated to answer any questions at all. This is not a corporate site.

Hey James. Dan has been a kind contributor to this forum (with well over 300 posts), and to have him publicly called a douche is more than just a little annoying. Would you consider deleting this thread?

Don't do it on my account (unless you really want to). I think this thread is pretty funny actually. This forum has helped me in so many ways. I could barely open Microsoft word 3 years ago, let alone changing my entire studio platform to computer. When I came here, everyone was always willing to help, and now that I learned a little, anytime I can help, I'm glad to do so.
I just though it was pretty funny to see Wildmans post and really thought "do you think you're gonna get help like that" Then I broke my golden rule of sayin' something smart alecky, which I never do, and there we go.
I really think the whole thing is pretty funny.........

I agree with Dan. This post is funny, but it also serves as a good reminder to parents as to what to avoid when raising children. Teaching manners is always important.
If anything this thread is a monument to the OP's embarrasing behavior. I know Dan is a bigger person than to care what someone whose opinion doesn't matter. Frankly, I'd laugh too when you consider the source.
I will say that Wildman is entirely unintelligent as he's proven smart enough to not say anything else in this thread. Anything other than an apology and I can't tell you how badly my finger is itching to execute the mouseclick that will erase every trace of his existence here.
