I have been using DP6 for about six months. I have barley scratched the surface of this program. I have the basics for setting up and recording audio. I was recently given an M-Audio ultra thin 25 key MIDI interface. Could someone explain how to get this to work in
simple terms. I am a drummer and very new to digital audio technology. I have looked in the
manual but its information overload. Thanks in advance

M-Audio does not a make a device called an 'ultra thin 25' that is listed on their website.
Is the device an Axiom Pro 25 , or an Axiom 25 , or an Oxygen 25 ?
Please confirm whether your device is any of these. If it is , you connect the device to your computer via a USB cable. Once you hook it up , what do you want this device to do ?
Once you answer the last question, I can make further comments

I am using it for know to learn how to play piano. I will get a proper keyboard once I have money. I would also like to use it for making percussion loops and other type of loops to play with and to record. I hope that is a better explanation. Sorry about posting wrong info.

No, sorry , this device will not do what you think it will do going by your statement.

To make loops , in general, you need a software or hardware sampler. The O2 25 is a tactile device
for changing whatever parameter you choose and assigning that parameter to a knob or slider. One would use the
keyboard section to trigger a note that has a loop assigned to it.

Additionally, when you have DP's mixer window open , you can assign and manipulate sliders, mutes, and aux sends to any of the tracks displayed amongst a whole lot of other stuff.

The 02 25 does not record audio of any kind , AFAIK. If you haven't already , I'd read up on the device at the M-Audio website. Perhaps , a clearer picture of what the O2 25 is and what it is used for is displayed there.

You don't mention the system your using but I'll assume it's a modern mac. Just plug a USB cable from the O2 to the computer. You can verify installation by going to Utilities -> Audio MIDI Setup. You should see the O2 listed there under the MIDI tab.

In DP create a Instrument track with a Virtual Instrument in it. Set it's audio out to a pair of outputs on your audio interface. Then create a MIDI track with it's input set to the 02 and it's output set to the VI you created (ch1). Play the keyboard and it should play the VI.
