Motu 828Mk2 with AKG 1000 S

Hi Folks,
I purchased an AKG 1000 S mic to record a few vocals. I've got it going in Mic1 on my 828 MK2 and 48V is enabled. If I try and record anything though, the signal is really weak. Does this type of mic need some sort of pre-amp?
Thank you in advance.

Mic 1 input is a preamp, might have to crank it up a bit.

It is up, it's set to maximum. So is Mic 2. Same thing. An ideas?

Might be obvious, but is the pad switched in?
Also, have you tried running the mic off a battery instead of Phantom power?

Hi,
I'm running it off batteries yes. Excuse the ignorance, but what is 'Pad' ?
Thank you.

Ah I see yours is an 828 MkII. The Mk3 has pad (or attenuator) switches by the inputs, but the MkII appears to not have them...... anyone else know if this is a hidden setting?
Perhaps open Cuemix to see if a pad switch is available under the trim knob.
Also I think you only need to power your AKG with either batteries or phantom power.
Cheers

Opened Cue Mix, can't see anything set wrong. I will try removing the batteries, perhaps that will work. Rather annoying really. Be a shame if I had to buy a Mic Pre Amp especially for it to work.

I've used the same mic into an 828mkII numerous times, with good results.
Unless either the mic or the interface isn't working properly, my guess is that you don't have the phantom power turned on. I'd suggest trying the mic on battery power (phantom power off) and trying both of the mic pre channels (main inputs) to make sure the problem isn't a bad mic pre.
And make sure the mic is switched on.

Hmm.. I feel the need to say that there is an ON-OFF switch on the mike itself. Be sure it´s ON.
