It isn't clear whether this includes eLicenser support. If so, I would think that would be grounds for legal action, considering those of us with dongle-protected software didn't "opt in" to Steinberg as our vendor.
Certainly this affects Cubase, and probably the long-delayed Mac port of Wavelab as well as any VI's and plug-ins that Steinberg makes.

Re: Steinberg announces end of support for Power PC based Macs
It does say that current versions will be the last to support PPC. So as long as one has a functioning PPC, then their current software will continue to work.
The eLicenser concern should also be a non-issue. It holds the licenses for current versions. If/when one upgrades, the new software license gets loaded in the Yamaha iLok (eLicenser).
So I think that current PPC users are will be fine except for being closed out of feature-laden updates. For that they'll need an Intel Mac.
Steinberg has made of point of asserting it's support for the Mac platform, including the enormous task of transferring the code to Cocoa. They are a progressive company that does tend to leave "legacy" users in the dust. I wasn't happy with dust in my face a few years ago, but I eventually acquired a Mac Pro and moved on.
So yes, it's startling, disturbing news. But current users should just focus on the music while saving up for a Mac Pro
Says one who's been there.
Regards.

Re: Steinberg announces end of support for Power PC based Macs
Well, hopefully they've decoupled the license database such that new license-protected products can be authorized by a legacy copy of the eLicenser console program.
None of my Steinberg products work very well (including the MOTIF-Rack XS editor, and the free Cubase AI 4). At least they're being honest about no longer supporting PPC's, rather than leaving us guessing.

By the way, can I use the Motif Rack Editor with DP? It's a VST plug-in, so shouldn't it work?
