CAUTION: Change Commands or face Unintended Transpositions.

There have been changes to the Commands Window which I think all of us have been wanting, so kudos to MOTU for providing us with the new commands. But as you will see, the choice of default keys can have serious effects on your files:
I found this when looking for the reason my Record Enable buttons no longer responded to the Up/Down arrow keys. Here is the post I wrote in the Troubleshooting Forum:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Yes, the Commands Window was still set for the up/down Record enable, but MOTU has added "Nudge Up" and "Nudge Down" commands, as well as "Nudge" commands for the Custom Console Window, and they assigned the up/down arrows to all of them!
That's all well and good, but I'm going to have to find a new set of commands for either the Record-Enable or the nudge commands; they can't share the same arrow keys.
So, if you have this problem, the answer is to reassign some commands in the Commands Window which are assigned the same keys. Specifically, these are:
Track
- Record Enable Next Track
Record Enable Previous Track
Custom Console Window:
More Edit
Now, let me tell you what I just realized. With the nudge up/down commands set to your arrow keys,
ANYTHING THAT IS SELECTED WILL BE TRANSPOSED when you hit the arrow keys. Let me show you my Undo History:
See all those transposed tracks? Those were altered while I was attempting to change the record-enabled track. Furthermore, any time you happen to hit the arrows by accident or for any other reason, you will have just transposed a note, selection, or whole track or group of tracks by a half-step for each time you struck the key.
It is essential that you change the command from arrow keys to something that can only be hit deliberately.

If you're wondering what to the new commands to, here's what I did:
I changed the new commands to:
Nudge UP - CONTROL-UP-ARROW
Nudge DOWN - CONTROL-DOWN-ARROW
This is shared with the Sound Selection Master's commands as you can see in this shot:
Since I don't use the sound selection controls very often, that works out for me. If you need to change MIDI channels remotely on a regular basis, then this might not work for you, but with all the VI's we use, they aren't as necessary as they used to be.
Just a thought. You can do what you want with it, but if you leave it on the up/down arrows, you WILL eventually change some notes without knowing it. I can imagine all kinds of scenarios that could happen as a result, none of them good.

Can you go in the audio pitch edit rhelm and nudge the pitch up by cents?

Can't find anything that will do that, 2dam. Sorry; maybe next upgrade.

That would be so useful.
It is almost unforgivable that they didn't design it that way.
It is a GREAT tool.
But to have to rely on clumsy, graphic, mouse oriented pitch adjustment when shades of pitch are involved kind of shows a bit of un-musicality on the part of the programmers if you ask me.
I set my command-9 pitch up in cents and can shade things that way, but it is slow and cumbersome...
Wouldn;t it be nice to loop a vocal note and shade the pitch with the up-down arrows while hearing the result, and have DP not bog down or choke and just shade the damn pitch with perfect clarity?
wow...I can dream can't I?..lol

Does this mean you can now select volume automation points and nudge them up and down as well as left and right?

Sorry that this caused you problems Shooshie, but, to be honest, I'm just excited to hear that they've added the 'nudge' up & down function. It's one of the few things I missed from Cubase. I don't know when I'll be upgrading to DP7, but I'm looking forward to that - although, I think I will transfer it to different keys as you suggest, because I'd be likely to make the same mistake, even after being warned.
They haven't added a key command to move things up or down by an octave by any chance, have they?

Not that I know of, though 12 little taps'll getcha there.
Yeah, I'm happy to have the nudging; make no mistake about it. I've even got another thread here that talks about how they've finally done what we've been asking for! The only problem is the unfortunate choice of default key. In fact, we now have every combination of modifiers making those arrow keys do everything from resize the Tracks Overview Window to changing the record-enabled track, to changing soundbite volume, to nudging certain selected items (notes, most especially) up or down by a half-step, and I'm probably missing some off the top of my head.
Those are some over-worked keys, and like Tim said, "we need more command keys!"
Quickeys gets around that by enabling "sticky keys," or commands that persist until a 2nd or even 3rd or 4th command is invoked, thus you can re-use all the keys on your keyboard over and over in layers that apply to things you've logically set up. You'll never run out of command keys, and yet you can use the same keys for massive control of window sets, track colors, and many more commands. Maybe DP could implement such a feature.

Should I post this question in a new thread or something??
I'm in 5.13 and am wondering if this feature has been added, since it's been hinted at here but not stated. If this has been discussed elsewhere I'm not aware of it.

I'm sorry. I answered that the other night, but my DSL went down as I sent in the answer, and it turned into one of those long problems that make me forget everything before it happened.
The answer is no. You still can't nudge those things up with the arrow keys. Automation points are same as before, AFAIK. I tested them with the arrow keys, but no go. They still go left and right, of course; just not up and down. Maybe in the value field... I'll have to try that out.
