Success!

Post by Phil O »

Wasn't sure where to post this, but I wanted to share this with you.

I have an old project that I had just about given up on. It won't open in any versions of DP. It causes a crash when I try to load chunks from it. In short I thought it was toast. So, I tried opening it in DP7.1. It almost works, but the file opens to a transport control and that's it. Nothing works and no other windows will open. But then I got a surprise. The auto-save feature kicked in and saved a .autosave version and to my surprise that version opens properly. :D

I guess this could be a technique to try as a last resort for corrupt project files that will open but won't play.

HaHaaaaaa! Take that, you nay sayers!

Phil

EEEEEAAAAA!!!

That's awesome, Phil!

Who would've thought? Auto-save, huh? 8)

I'm curious if the fix was due to auto-save per se, or if you could have rescued the project by simply saving yourself.

This needs to go to the Tips Sheet!
Mac Mini Server i7 2.66 GHs/16 GB RAM / OSX 10.14 / DP 9.52
Tascam DM-24, MOTU Track 16, all Spectrasonics' stuff,
Vienna Instruments SUPER PACKAGE, Waves Mercury, slaved iMac and Mac Minis running VEP 7, etc.

I thought of that. The Save command was greyed out because you couldn't make any changes to the project with no windows open. It was a catch 22.

Cool!
So your trick, let us call it "the Phil trick", is to let auto-save kick in for projects that won't load and seem lost for ever.

Nice workaround to be aware of 8)
