Effects on Busses in Ultralite CueMix?

Hi all! Just bought a MOTU Ultralite mk3 hybrid. They write in manual that "the mixer allows to apply effects processing to all inputs, outputs or busses".
I'm opening CueMix... I see buttons to activate EQ or compressor on every input and output. But when I switch to mixes tab, there's NO such a buttons! When I press 'focus', it shows effects of an appropriate input, not the bus!
When I focus on the bus's output channel, another effect settings are shown at the right panel, but I can't find to which signal they're applied. Is it ever possible? Than how?

The thing I want to do is to split stage microphone into monitor and portal channels, than apply compressor to portal, but not to monitor - to avoid feedback. I also want to have phones submix with other instruments - that's why I need bus-applied effects, not output effects.

Sorry, nevermind.. Actually, it does not. I've soldered SPDIF out with SPDIF in and thus got all necessary routing.

Glad to hear you got that sorted mate.

Incidentally you might be able help some other peole out yourself if you are so inclined. At least some of us are having problems with the new UL hybrid.

Are you using yours with the supplied drivers? Are you also using USB?
Does it work? If so what version of windows are you using?

appreciate it if you could help. Thx.

On Jan 5, 2010 MOTU released new drivers both for Windows and Mac. Previous version was down with "No MOTU devices found", current one works fine. However, I've tested USB only on my desktop, not laptop. I don't want to hang on firewire, because it is crappy on almost every laptop, including Powerbook.

thx for that fathergorry.

I'd assumed the drivers that came with my UL hybrid were the same as the versions on the MOTU site as they have the exact same version number. Externally only the release dates differ but it looks like MOTU might have corrected the problem and re-released updated drivers without changing the ID. I'll check it out after the w/e.

Thx for a swift reply. :D

I would like to know about the re-releasing of drivers too.
Fathergorry, how does USB2 work for you on your desktop? If all is good there, hopefully it would be good on a laptop as well.

Absolutely flawless. It even doesn't break when another application takes 100% computer resources.

That's awesome. Have you by chance tried using an external USB2.0 drive with the MK3 Hybrid on USB as well? I was thinking of using this method of connection so I would be able to ditch my firewire express card that I currently have everything running off of. My express card on my laptop will come loose if a mouse breaths on it. Since I never record anything over 2 tracks simultaneously at 24/44.1 anyway, I think this should work smoothly.

eoneel, just make sure you're running MK3 and your drive on different USB hosts.

MK3 on laptop

It is buggy on laptop, but less buggy than QuataFire or Firebox, for example.
I have 2 Dell D400/410 laptops with Texas Instruments IEEE1394 controllers - with both of them all of my audio interfaces work badly. However, Ultralite MK3 makes 1-2 click per minute, and it almost allows to play live - Firebox just makes noise and QuataFire drops connection.
On Powerbook G4 - same latency increment (after 1-2 hrs of playing - from 20ms to 500-600ms) as working with other cards.

BUT!
Using USB interface, I was able to make MK3 work! Just by adjusting driver latency, removing resident applications and turning COM, WiFi and modem off. USB rules.

Glad to see you got the USB working. What kind of latency were you getting with it? I will get an occasional click or pop with the MK1 when I'm tracking every once and a while, and I will have to re-record the track, but not to often. Oh, by the way I actually have a 4 pin firewire port on my laptop that I forgot about. It was hiding under my Siig firewire express card. I can't believe I forgot that. So, If I can get the USB going for the MK3-Hybrid, It won't be sharing it with my external drive after all. I will be testing tommorrow. :D
