Masterworks rocks. I have a number of third party EQs, but none get used even close to as much as MWEQ.

Masterworks EQ is excellent. But it's only available in Digital Performer by this little company called MOTU.
;-)

I also agree- I really love Masterworks EQ- it's excellent. Others I use when going for other "sounds" are Waves Ren EQ, and URS channel strip (although that's for both compression and EQ). I think Izotope's Alloy is pretty good too, but it also is more of a "channel-strip" idea, with EQ, exciter, compressor, etc. But I always seem to come back to the MWEQ as I can really dial in what I want with it.

Between MasterWorks EQ and Vienna Suite's Master EQ, I feel I'm covered. On rare occasions I use Linear Phase EQ from T-RackS. MasterWorks EQ is the most versatile and covers the most Q types/shapes. Vienna's is the most flexible but not as versatile, if that makes sense to people. :-)

+100

PLus for a little mojo, the stillwell 1073.

They're all I use and all I need.

+1 again.

+1 again (again).

Cambridge EQ from UAD (with the UAD-1 or UAD-2 card) is also good. But I do love the FFT analyzer function on the MW EQ. It's a really good second opinion. :)

Cheers,
Erik

DP's MW EQ is great. For character, the UAD 1073 is hard to beat... the IK Multimedia Phase Linear EQ is ultra clean and surgical for mastering type adjustments... sorry, I don't do Waves. It really all depends what your going after... the MW EQ has most of the bases covered... but for tonal coloring, the UAD stuff is hard to beat. It's good to have as many colors on your palette while producing and mixing... plus, the added DSP comes in handy regardless how fast your box is IMO.

+1.
Perhaps you would like to try different UADs. I chose the 4k channel strip.

If you are looking for a super-clean, fully parametric, highly flexible EQ, you should look at Fabfilter's Pro-Q. I don't own it, but tried the demo, and it may be one of the best "clean" EQs I've ever heard and the feature set is astounding. I would buy it, but I already have too many options to justify it. Check it out:

(P.S. As for MW EQ, it's a bread and butter thing, but most of the time I prefer a more refined cuisine.)

My most used EQs are Stillwell Vibe EQ, Stillwell 1973, Sonalksis SV517mk2, Uhbik Q.

I also just got the DDMF IIEQ Pro and LP10, the former a 10-band track EQ, the latter a 10 band filter where each band can be set to be either linear phase or minimum phase. Both plugs very nice on first try, haven't really put them through the paces yet. DDMF lets you determine how much you want to pay. :D

I have some wonderful vintage EQ's from Nomad Factory, plus all the Waves EQ's, and some other 3rd party EQ's, but the one I always end up using is the MOTU Masterworks EQ. In my limited opinion it just doesn't get much better than that, and when you factor in the cost, that bang-for-the-buck becomes... well... infinite.

Shoosh

Masterworks EQ and the Duende X-EQ are my go to eq's. My next favorite is the Harrison EQ that UAD emulated.
