Motu Ultralite MK3 for live recording/mixing

Hi everyone,

I'm a musician (keys), and soon i'll be recording a live performance of my duo. (vocals/Acoustic Piano).

I'm planning to record on my macbook pro using sonar 8. So currently i'm looking for a decent, portable audio interface that will allow me to record live performances of my jazz duet...

Basically i'll need an audio interface that can record at least 6 tracks simultaneously. Our current live setup is: 2 mics for vocals, 2 mics for the acoustic piano, and a stereo channel for some backing tracks...

So if there is anyone that have used the Motu Ultralite MK3 could give me some advice on how do you think it'll perform on this particular scenario?

And also i would like to use it as a standalone mixer for the same setup. But i need to know how ease would it be to control volume, effects, in real time?

Any advice would be much appreciated,

Luis

There is one feature in ULmk3 that can be annoying if you need to trim input 1 and 2 in a live scenario. When adjusting gain of input 1 or 2 up/down, every one dB step above 6 dB adds an audible "pop" on that channel.

The Ultralite only has 2 mic inputs, which doesn't look like enough for you. Maybe the 8 pre would be a better way to go.
