How's it compare to the On-Stage SMS7650?

I went w/ the Ultimate for the heavier base and the boom length is adjustable.
The Onstage boom you have to unscrew the boom pieces that I could see, plus its only a small little knob for adjustment like the $40 booms.
Ultimate has a integrated boom angle/adjustment clutch , and its smooth. The base is heavier, but for me it has a smaller span -which may not be as good, but in my case fits better, due to less floor room. It has locking casters, not sure about the On stage one. I like the styling of the counter weigh too.
The On stage has a lower min height, but same max height. It may have more versatility there with the double clutch height adjusters, but then seems it would need more fiddling with.
I didn't physically look at the On stage stand, but I did check at the Ultimate at a local GC, two days later it was gone so I ordered from B&H, which is the only place that has them now.

I usually buy K&M but the store was out of them and had these new Ultimate stands, so I bought one without the boom and am using it for my T-bar for stereo OH in X/Y as well as a base for Mid/Side mic setups.
Very strong and sturdy, light as a feather in spite of the radius, and possibly even more robust and practical than the K&M stands.
Oops, sorry, different model -- mine is the less fancy version with standard tripod base. I have too many browser tabs to want to click a new tab and do all that scrolling, so I went ahead and did an in-place click to quickly look at your link. I haven't seen that version yet. That's quite a bargain too!

Looks cool... I bought some sort of On-Stage variant of that. Probably not as nice, but it gets the job done and is reasonably stable.

Speaking about K&M, I have one with a adjustable boom, standard delio that for the life of me cannot keep even get a SM81 to stay up, hence my acquisition. LDC ? forgedaboutit. I suppose I need to clean the rubber gaskets at the clutch, cuz usually have to use superman strength to tighten it, and it still droops down.
Tell ya though, the MC125 can hold up quite a few brauners...don't have any though

The counter weight is 5 or 7 lbs? Feels heavier than that.
Now on to find a good stereo bar. How about one of them Grace ones huh? too much for my blood

Appears the Shure A27 would be good for M/S config.

Ouch! They've gotta be out of their minds. That's way over-priced. Nice looking though.
I've been looking seriously at this package:

Don't know if they sell the bar separately, though.

Never occurred to me to look at a pro camera tripod manufacturer for T-bars -- good find! Not a bad price for what it is, either.

$199 on the street for that isn't out of line at all. There are others that are a little better, but twice to 5-times the price! The On-Stage one is certainly less and very good, but the boom is not adjustable (distance).

Atlas Sound makes some good rugged stands too.
