MachFiveV2 Update?

Does anyone know if and when they are EVER going to update MachFive2 so it works better?
I have moved on to Kontakt 4 Player as an endorsed artist for NI. However, I would still like to be able to use MachFivev2 every once in a while for some of my Roland Libraries from Spectrasonics which are very old, but have great response in MachFive2.
It's been since Date: 2007/10/29
File Name: Install_MachFive_2.02.zip

Thanks, G

Motu is apparently working on Machfive 3, and it is expected to be released in the next few months, with many mint new features, such as an extreme pitch shifting that doesn't produce any sound artifacts... I got this info from somebody close to the developers in Paris. But as much as that source can be reliable, I don't expect anything from Motu until I can actually get my hands and money on it.

But a M5 2 update to correct all the annoying bugs? Hmmmm, as much as that would be awesome, I personally think this will never happen...

And we should probably get ready for a M5 3 full of uncorrected bugs haha

Cheers.
Charles

When DP 7 was updated, Dp 6 was also updated, so there is no reason to believe that MOTU won't do something similar with MachFive 3 (which I've heard nothing about until this thread). But I'm not sure I'd spend the bucks just for pitch shifting. I think I'd probably buy Melodyn if i really needed to do that better than I can with other apps already. But Melodyn has some pretty cool features that I would use and M5-2 isn't a big issue for me anyway.

M5-3? Interesting!

I just hope they keep the price down for the upgrade. I've very little real use for MachV these days, though I love it for what it is. My priorities have changed (along with the general trends in the industry) since MachV was created.

I bought MachFive in Jan. of 2009 and I've only used it a few times in stand alone mode. One of my main reason for buying it at that time was I wanted to be able to use some of my old Akai MPC 3k & 2k snds, ASR 10 & Emu sample disc. Some sounds did load but most of them didn't. For that reason alone it was basicly a waste for me. After messing around with it a little in stand alone mode I started to like it. Only problem was that in stand alone mode it would crash a lot??? I also tried using machfive with Pro Tools HD 7.4 as an RTAS that didn't work either. It would crash Pro Tools. More than a year later and a new version of Pro Tools and a new MAC OS and it's still not compatible!!!!! Since then I've move on to NI Komplete. I see the Motu staff has been really busy with a ton of new products both hardware and software... So you gotta love that...hahaha I'm not bitter, just embarrassed that I waisted that kind of $ on this program. Don't get me wrong machfive is not a bad program it's actually a very good & powerful sampler. It just has a very bad support system in place. by the way, trying to get help from tech support at Motu was a nightmare!!! If they do make a MachFive 3 It wouldn't be fair of them to charge for an upgrade since I've never been able to properly use the version I have. I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels this way.

I wonder if it will ever be updated. It's been a very long time since any kind of update, and there are so many known bugs. I have also moved on to Kontakt 4. I don't think I could justify paying for an upgrade to machfive 3, no matter how cool the new features were. New features don't cut it if the program is buggy and is left totally unsupported for years. I wish I could reclaim that money and spend it on something else.

I agree with you all !
No update for 2 and a half year, and still many issues... I use it with Pro Tools and it's a nightmare with this DAW, CPU wise (i'm on a Mac Pro !). And with Nuendo 4 it crashes all the way...

If they charge vor a v3 update, without correcting all the bugs in v2, it will be without me for sure.

Bye.

That's what I said about DP 6 to 7 but caved and I'm very glad I did. MachFive -2 has been a champ for me in DP but crashes in Plogue Bidule. I may have to sort out the VST vs. the AU thing as M5 runs better as an AU from what I understand. You might look into whether you're running as an AU as that is preferred - but if you are then maybe try it as a VST. And maybe you been there and are waiting for the tee shirt...

I'd like to try the AU version as I'm not sure if the MAS version will bounce to disc without printing to audio.

RTAS version aside, what are all these "known bugs" that are bandied about yet never enumerated?

I totally agree with you! I started this thread and just checked back after months starting it.
I figured it would not get much answers, but I am glad to have stimulated some discussion about it. Maybe MOTU is listening and will do something to get something done. I am not interested in the pitch function either. I just want to be able to use my sampler easily without problems such as continual crashes, without having to clearing cache all the time by logging out and logging back in and turning of streaming mode. That seems to be the only way that it does not crash with FW sample HD. Just tried it again after months of not using it, because I needed a rare sample for project that was in ONLY Mach5 sample format. It crashed after 15min. I think my Kontakt 4 Player has never crashed on me.. Seems to me a MOTU problem and not a user problem. I have been using DP and Performer since the 1980's so I know how to use the software.

Good luck all:)

I get a lot of crashes with Mach 5 v2 in DP when I make to many edits to quickly, more than any other single instrument. tech links and all that have been done, but there are general stability issues across the board. this has been my experience with Mach 5 at least.

but I still do use it and love its layout but its had way more issues(crashes) for me than kontakt or anything else.

I think it relates to the old UVI engine at the core of Mach 5, I dont have these problems with BPM which is based on a newer model of the uvi engine (I think).

even if they dont release a Mach5v3, I feel they still owe us a utility/stability update and maybe a few small feature upgrades, for the price-tag of Mach5 its not too much to expect.

Mike, does that apply even if you are running M5 inside DP7? I just got it, and am planning on installing it this week.
Are there specific reasons as to choose AU over MAS (or vice versa)? Have you tried both and settled on one?

Thanks!

I am guessing that M5 will run better under MAS or AU (probably MAS) but I really don't know. THe VST version is running great in Plogue Bidule.
