windows 7 64bit 828 ISSUES

my motu 828mk3 is not working correctly in windows 7 64bit.
it was a total pain to install, wouldn't uninstall the old drivers so i had to manually remove them. then it worked fine, until i turned the computer on again the next day and had to re-install drivers. this i've had to do every day up until last night when it stopped working completely. says its installed but cubase says motu error.
i am using the win64 drivers for it.
i tried to do a firmwire update, but it gets stuck at 35%
i'm dual booting with xp and from reading through the forum, fear that may be a problem? it would appear bootcamp on mac confuses the drivers?
