Waves Vocal Rider

Anyone demo this yet?
What do you think?
I'm demoing it now.
I like it a lot.
Could be a huge time saver.

I like the product description, and I like the look of the plugin:
http://www.macmusic.org/software/versio ... /id/16653/

However, with all the things I've heard about Waves on this forum, I think I'll wait until another developer (or MOTU) develops a similar plugin. Definitely a great concept!!

The more I demo it the more I wonder if it's sounding unnatural....

It's $400 for the AU version.

I recently bought 47 plugins for $400.

But I have to admit... if it works properly something like this could really help out with mixing tasks for more than just vocal tracks.

It would be cool if instead of a plugin riding the level, it would draw the 'suggested' volume automation in the track, which could then edited to taste.

Oooop... guess I should've read the features first:
"Write the automatic riding to an automation track for fine tuning."

Similar, and I think older, stuff for PT:

I haven´t tried it, and don´t use Waves to date. I really hope for a non waves alternative for DP.

This one also caught my eye but soon as I saw it was from Waves I knew that the price of this thing would be quite bloated, I really doubt I would spend $400 for something like this.

In fact, the only Waves plugin I own is the DeBreath (produce a lot of voice over work) which it does work great. Funny thing is I turned a voice talent on to this plug and when they went to check it out Waves raised the price on it from around $300 to $500! Smart thing to do during a recession. Needless to say they didn't buy it because of this.

I don't know if it is any good, but this plug is doing exactly that for a little less than the 400$ Waves is asking.

Anyway, these plug-in would proove themselves usefull in broadcast mix, where you spend most of your mix time tweeking the voice of a 30 sec spot.

Curious if anyone has set this up in DP like the tutorial that they have for 'ducking' a vocal?

If you have PM me or post here and let us know the procedure. Seems slightly convoluted but hopefully if you can get a template set up you only have to set it up once.

A little less? It's way less than the price of the Waves one... going for 59 bucks.. :?

I'm off of Waves - my WUP just ran out, then they upgrade to version 7... I have to shell out bucks for nothing but compatiability - I can't remember the last time they added any plugins to my bundle. Fortunately, I've found great alternatives for much cheaper. Sorry for the Waves rant - just bugs me that they are selling this for 400 bucks at this time.

You're in good company around here. A lot of us would like to be done with Waves. But my version 6 is working fine, so I have no intentions of updating my WUP for now.

After demoing Vocal Rider on a 14 song almost finished project I conclude that this is a very useful product.
Comparing my manual vocal rides to the Vocal Rider I found it does a better overall job however, I wouldn't just set it and forget it.
You will have to over ride some areas in the mix.
If I had it from the beginning of the project it would have saved me many hours of tedious work.
Nobody other product does what this does....
