Using Built in Audio/USB Mic in Audiodesk

Post by jobu75 »

I bought a used version of Audiodesk 3 on craigslist. Installed great. I don't have any firewire hardware though. I want to use my usb mic direct into my mac, but for the life of me, I can't get this thing to recognize it. There's nothing to select as far as hardware. Garageband recognizes it great! I love the mic and want to use it, but if I can't get Audiodesk to find a simple microphone, why have it?

I don't believe that you can use Audio Desk with anything other than a MOTU interface - no coreaudio support.

If you can still contact the person you bought it from, you should demand a refund. The seller should have known, and told you, that Audiodesk is basically Digital Performer Lite, and it works only in conjunction with a MOTU audio interface. Every MOTU interface comes with a copy, but the software is nearly useless if sold separately from the hardware.

Otherwise, if you can register the copy you have in your name, (you'd have to have the manual to do it,) you could upgrade to DP 7.0 for about $300.
