Meoldyne and DP 6

Post by indytoons »

This is what I LOVE about computers...
I've had Melodyne on my computer w/DP 6 for the better part of a year now and it has worked flawlessly...until today. i tried to open Melodyne on a track and everytime I get an unexpected quit in DP. I haven't changed or installed anything new in my system, and if I open a project that already has Melodyne on a track it works fine...any ideas?

OK...figured it out. It's been a LONG time since I used Melodyne and I forgot about this one interesting wrinkle- I've got MOTU Symphonic Instruments on my 'puter and for some unknown reason Melodyne will not open w/the Ilok key for SI installed. If I remove the Ilok key Melodyne opens fine. Kind of a kludge and I completely forgot about it and I have no clue as to why the 2 kids don't play well together. :D

That is very odd.

I would say to check for iLok updates for a start. However, if it has worked until now, consider what on your 'puter has been updated or upgraded.

For sudden malfunctions, there are two things I'd recommend: trash DP Preferences (User Library>Preferences>Digital Performer>Preferences...

... or....

Run DiskWarrior (or TechTools). Some incidental file might have gone corrupt all of a sudden. But you shouldn't *have to* disconnect your iLok to boot your apps.

The only other thing I can think of is to remove the MAS version of MSI and opt for the AU version.
