DP 7 upgrade with or without MX4?

I realize that this is a very subjective question but would appreciate any input on the usefulness of MX4 especially as a $99 add-on to the DP 7 upgrade.
I used the demo a couple of years ago and appreciated the boat-load of presets as I'm not a synth-tweaker.
The sound was a bit cold and hard but probably could be softened with a healthy dose of PSP Mix Saturator or similar.
Other synths I have include what comes with Logic and Cubase, UVI Synths Anthology, and Komplete 5 (soon to be InKomplete 6

)
So as it relates to the DP 7 upgrade: MX4- Yay or Nay?

I bought MX4 and like it. I don't use it a lot as I don't write a lot of music that uses that kind of sound, but when I do, I find the presets to be well done and useful. I guess it all depends on how much you might use the VI and what else you can get for the same $$$.

I have MX4 and have loved using it in the past. I don't think its been updated in a while. Don't know if the low price is because they are trying to tempt more people, discontinue the item or have an upgrade in the works.
I find it a very powerful and easy to use synth. It does have its own sound which is very useful. The preset are nice but I recommend tweaking them to taste. And there are a lot of other options around. But if you are one who likes to have a lot of different synths, $99 is a great price.

Thanks.
I'll give the demo sounds a fresh listen, then sleep on it.
Otherwise the DP 7 upgrade is a given.
Regards.

Just to clarify, the upgrade price itself doesn't go up later, does it? I haven't ordered mine simply because I don't have time to switch at the moment since I'm in the middle of three deadline-intense projects each of which has up to ten compositions or arrangements. Bad time to switch.
I guess I'm just a bit concerned as VSL has their "lower upgrade price plus limited time freebie" going on with Vienna Ensemble Pro, and I want to make sure I don't get caught with my pants down this time.
MX4 is definitely worth $100. I sold mine after getting more specialised emulative soft synths (as that is my primary interest), but found it a great learning tool and a really well laid-out design, like all MOTU products. I really think MOTU should win an award for the best GUI's in the business.
There was a recent point release update to MX4, so I see no reason to think it is being canceled.

mx4 is the best synth eva!!!, I love it, but if you dont do a lot of original sound design then its power will be somewhat lost on you, but at $99 there is still no going wrong with this baby.

MX4 for $99 is a limited time offer. The cost of the DP 7 upgrade should remain at $195 as it did with DP 6, (and 5?) So your not under any additional undue pressure. And hey by the time you get around to ordering it, it should be in better shape.

$99 is a good price, but I never really warmed up to MX4. Literally. I always found it to be on the cold and thin side. It takes a good deal of work to get it to make nice noises IMO.

I just ordered the DP 7 upgrade with MX4.
It should be here early next week as I'm just south of Boston.
Regards.

Coming full circle, I'm really pleased that I sprung for the $99 MX4. There's plenty of warmish sounds to be found and I might actually tinker with it in time.
So now my response to others who might have the same question is, upgrading to DP 7 with MX4 is a really good deal.

I definitely recommend it, since it looks like MOTU has shown a commitment to it that makes it likely it will continue to evolve and be developed further.
It was literally my first VI. I used it a lot at first. Then I started going back to hardware for my more exploratory synthesis work. But depending on what happens with this product in a future release, I can see myself buying into it again. It was a joy to use and to program.
