Yamaha Motif ES8 & DP6 - Virtual Sync Question

Greetings!

I am trying to virtually sync my Yamaha Motif ES8 & DP6. By this, I mean that I would like to have the ability to control my virtual instruments and MOTU effects using the knobs from my Yamaha keyboard instead of the mouse. I went to Guitar Center and this crappy M-Audio keyboard worked great with ProTools. Does anyone know what settings I should be using in DP6 and or the Yamaha Motif ES8? Many thanks!!!

The Motif ES8 can be set up to control the transport in DP.
And I believe faders and pans. That's it. You can't really
set it up to control plug-ins. It's optimized for Cubase.

You're really better off with a dedicated hardware control
surface - something specifically designed for the task.

Thanks for your response! When you say hardware, do you mean something like the Mackie c4 Pro?

DP doesn't support the C4.

The controls on the Motif can control plug-ins if the plug-ins support MIDI control. For instance, DP's Modulo synth plug-in has a feature where you can right-click on a parameter in the plug-in window and choose "Learn MIDI" (or something similar). Then wiggle a knob or slider on the Motif. If the knob or slider is transmitting MIDI CC data, then the plug-in will learn to respond to that CC. However, not all plug-ins support this feature, so your mileage may vary.
