Forgive me as I don't have the time to keep digging through the posts and if this question has already been addressed.
I just bought a brand new Mac Book Pro last week (have been on Windows since 2000, but moved on finally), and tried to install my Motu 828mkII so I can then install Cubase. There have been several snags, the first was that the firewire cable I bought at Fry's was dead in the box, and the computer didn't recognize the hardware (I installed the latest driver from the motu.com website, as directed by tech support, who I have been on the phone with, but their phone is busy everytime i've called since). I got the cable replaced, and now the macbook pro is recognizing the hardware when it's plugged in and powered up, but I cannot get audio out of the computer and into the 828 via firewire. Does anyone know what I need to do in order to get the 828 to play the audio on my computer? I'm sure it's a configuration thing somewhere, but I'm new to the Mac world and unfortunately don't know much about this.
Thank you for your help in advance.

You need to set up the 828 to be your input and output device using the core audio setup in your utilities folder.

Re: 828 MKII & MacBook Pro Are Not Communicating
Thank you for your response. I have done what you said, but still no dice. I actually got through to tech support today and they had me do the same thing you suggested, but it's still not working. Apparently I have a faulty unit. I read your response to the other post I started about the 828 crackling with static noises, and I can say I have replaced multiple cables, and I know for a fact that it's not the headphones causing feedback. I think I'm going to do as you suggested and just crack the 828 open and see if there's anything I can fix. It's just disappointing that this keeps happening. I've already had to replace an 828, and I don't like that MOTU sends factory refurbs out as their replacement units. I had my first 828 for a few years before I had to replace it, and this one is less than a couple years old. Rather than keep spending money on replacing their products every couple years I'm seriously considering just switching over to another company. It's getting to the point where it's just not worth the effort and frustration to even be able to listen to my itunes, much less record material.
I'm sorry that was a bit of a tangent.
Once again, thank you for the insight that you have provided. I do appreciate your time.
