Ultralite/Cuemix Question

hi
i've got a problem with my motu ultralite.
when i connect a microphone or guitar, the leds on the ultralite are moving: there is a sound coming in. looks perfectly normal.
but suddenly i don't have a sound coming into digital performer (but i also tried in ableton live and logic pro).
the track is record enabled. the input looks fine.
it's weird because i've been using this setup for years, without a glitch.
in cuemix there's also something strange happening: everything is 'reset'. all the panning is turned to the left, and the faders are zero. when i change something, it goes back to 0 after a few seconds.
i guess these two problems are related?
i restarted my whole setup. but that didn't solve it.
