MOTU MIDI Express XT dropping connections

Post by anj »

Hello,
I have two MIDI controller keyboards connected to the XT then into Windows XP 3.0 running Sonar and Cubase. For some reason the MIDI connection loses input capability from the external controllers. It doesn't affect the MIDI output at all. I.e. when I hit play on Sonar, all external hardware and internal soft synths play normally but there is no input activity from anything connected to the MIDI Express XT. Any controllers connected directly to the PC via USB work normally. If i manually disconnect the MIDI inputs of the external controllers that have stopped working (from the back of the XT) and reconnect them, the connection is restored... until the next time they get dropped. This is very aggrivating because I use this setup constantly in live performances. It has been suggested that there may be something going on in Windows that is causing the connection to fail, such as auto update, etc, but i have disabled that. SOmeone mentioned 'power supply' to the usb hub might be the culprit but I don't know how to disable that. Help.... please... :)

Thank you,

anj
