Crashing DP with Kontakt 3.5 is awesome.

The KMS (memory server) just keeps showing 1 gig of samples loaded in my taskbar, I restart DP, and my gigantic project opens up almost immediately. I can only assume it's because all of the kontakt instruments are still in memory. As far as I can tell, LASS + Kontakt 3.5 is about to make my sonic implants giga library very jealous.

Yea awsome to know that DP is again usless and has not written any code that actualy works in years! It can't even see USB MIDI Devises without makeing a bridge. What are these people doing at MOTU? are they in the stone age? Guess they comunicate like there tech support line with others like APPLE, Stienberg, Kontakt.
They don't!!! They just take your money then laugh at us all like we are fiils.

MOTU needs people to send them red noses and Big huge clown shoes!. There software if not updated soon will be "Vintage software along with the moog and ARP 2600. Give me a break these people need to wake up and smell the coffee!
They made a great product now they are on "AutoPilot" with big money going to MArketing and a few up top. But no worries you will not even be able to see most of the Vi instgruments in the new MAc OS...but I can't talk about that. MOTU will not even work correctly. Then all will be calling day and night complaining to MOTU instead of bashing the industry that is up to date!

Baren, I'm wondering... do you have absolutlely anything of value to add here? I noticed you just posted elswhere and more of your diatribes against MOTU and this site because I expected you be somewhat responsible in your posting.

Note: Due to bbarends postings as of late... not so much this one, but in another thread... I'm suspending his posting privileges as is my prerogative as Site Admin. It's just gotten out of hand.

I don't get the thread title.
Have we something good, or something bad?

I'm with you Tim! The title sounds negative, but this appears to be positive! :?

Peace

Well this sounds like a good thing. He doesn't say it's "crashing" in the usual sense so maybe he means it in a positive way? He does say it is awesome.

Things start going south about here:

It is truly awesome when people can see things so clearly. I don't know how he does it...

BTW, what are fiils? Small girl horses? Things that drummers do between phrases? Or is that the plural of Phil? Or did he mean files?

Inquiring body parts want to know... LOL!

It is confusing.

I think he means that when DP crashes (a bad thing) the Kontakt 3.5 memory server doesn't crash along with DP and keeps the samples in memory so the VI loads more quickly when you restart DP (a good thing). I can verify that the Kontakt memory server does in fact remain loaded after the program crashes (my crash experience being with PT8). I will however dispute the keeping sample in memory thing, because when I reload the PT session the Kontakt VI loads faster, but it goes to zero first and then clicks up. I think the faster loading time has more to do with the samples being in the disk cache - and a one meg sample set would load in a blink.

Oh I see - 1 gig sample set. Then I may be wrong - not the first time.

I should certainly clarify myself: Crashing DP ... bad. DP crashes while using the Kontakt Memory Server ... awesome. Granted, awesome is relative to the alternative of rebooting my entire computer.

I think this simple equation will help:

Awesomeness = [(DP Version #) / (Reload Time in Seconds - (KMS Cache Size in MB / 60) + 1)] x 100

My DP Awesomeness Factor = 513 :)

Just wanted to share my gratitude for DP 5.13 + Kontakt 3.5. This really is one of the best setups I've ever used.
