Hi,

I´m trying to change the tempo in a DP project. It´s a new project and I have imported a pianotrack that is 83,5BPM. The default is 120 and I want to change this. What happens is that DP freezes every time I try.

I´m on a new MacBookPro and DP5.13.

Enyone experienced this?

How are you doing the tempo change? In the Slider mode, or are you on Conductor mode?
MIDI or audio track?

I have never seen this happening. Tell us more, so we can help.

The pianofile is a audio track. I just try to type in the new tempo. I´m not using the slider.

If you want to mess with its tempo, you need to do more... you need to tell DP the original tempo of the file, and make sure that stretching is allowed for this SB (in the SBs window).

Or, you can use the hand tool (the one that appears when you place the cursor near the SB's bar in the SE. This will allow to stretch or compact the SB, but it won't allow you to control the equivalent speed easily. I think you need to try the 1st method. That would do what you want (change the audio tempo by using the CT).

I don't do this much, so the manual would give you all the details you need for this.

I don´t want to stretch the audio file. I just want to set the sequence tempo so that it will fit the audiotrack. I tried to make a tempomap from the audiofile and then copy it to the sequence, but it´s a slow pianotrack and DP was not able to find the right tempo in the soundbyte.

If there's no tempo information embedded on the soundbite, AND YOU DON'T KNOW what the tempo is, create a tempo map by using "Record beats". This allows you to tap along the recording, and DP will create a tempo map reflecting this.
This will be as accurate as your tapping, but then you can tweak it using the Adjust Beats command.

This will allow you to have a click track clicking on time to your audio file. You could then use the Copy Sequence tempo to SB command to "embed" this into the SB.

IF YOU KNOW THE TEMPO of your track, just type it in the box next to the slider, or set it in Conductor Track mode, and align the SB properly.

This is one of those topics where studying the manual will avoid many headaches. At first it all sounds too complicated, but once you try it and assimilate it, it is very straightforward.

That is what I did, and then it will freeze. I know the tempo because it was recorded to a click on another persons daw. Sorry if I was not clear enough in my first post.
