Hello gents, I'm new to the site. Great site by the way. Wanted some advice, I'm looking to purchase an imac g5 core 2 duo, 2.40 ghz 250 Gb hard drive. Is this a wise purchase?

Not to be difficult, but you haven't given us enough information to give you an opinion.
What do you wish to do with it? How much are you looking to pay? I'm confused too. Isn't a core 2 duo a term that applies to Intel Macs? If so, what do you mean when you say it's a "G5?" Again, more info about what you wish to do with the computer and what your budget is is needed.

Pardon my ignorance. Intel mac. I'm looking to run digital performer more efficient. I have a G4 laptop running Dp6, and its not cutting it. The price I saw for the Imac was 949.00 dollars and offered apple care. I just really want to dig into Dp6, just want to know if spec wise that the Imac can handle what I want to do. Which is MIDI and audio. Thanks!

No... no problem at all. The reason I ask is just that it's hard to say because it might depend on how many audio tracks you might typically use and how many and what kind of virtual instruments you might like to run as well. I don't own an iMac so I can't comment, but I suspect they're pretty powerful machines. I'm not surprised that you're struggling with your G4 laptop though. Hopefully people with experience on the iMac can comment. I would suggest changing your subject header to something more descriptive to get people to read it and offer suggestions. Perhaps "Is iMac a good DP6 machine?" might be a better subject header.
