If someone has the time and good will, can they go through setting up and using bidule step by step with DP. I just can't seem to get it up and running.
Thanks,
Paul

How far have you got with it?
The is a specific order in which things are to be set up which must be adhered to;
After installing Bidule, Aux tracks need to be set up in DP with Bidule instrument inputs and valid outputs before Bidule will open up seeing DP.
If using Rewire MIDI to Bidule, open Bidule with DP not open, go to prefs/rewire and set the number of MIDI inputs wanted, then close Bidule.
Open a DP project (with proper bidule i/o set up) before launching Bidule, otherwise Bidule will not open in Rewire mode.
Do you need help setting up rewire MIDI input and audio output, and setting up VI's in Bidule?

Cool vid, Rik!
One thing to note is that when using Bidule MIDI inputs there will be no latency compensation. With the Rewire MIDI inputs latency is reported and compensated for in DP. The downside is that there are only 8 rewire MIDI inputs, and they can't be named like the Bidule devices can, thus we're stuck with a big long name that makes the input column in DP extra wide (at least that's what I've found, and I'd love to hear that I'm wrong about this).
When using Rewire, set the audio buffer in Bidule the same as DP. This can be set in Bidule prefs only when DP is not open.

Yeah. I've found the same thing but would rather have the latency compensated for rather than easier naming for the devices HOWEVER...
wouldn't it be great if we could name them??

Yeah, that's a problem when you use any IA MIDI. I have the same issue with VSL's VE3. It comes up with "VSL Ensemble: Vienna Ensemble 1-1" One way to shorten that one is to take
the VE3 input plug it self and cut the name down to VE WW for instance. Then I get "VE WW: Ensemble 1-1" in the MIDI output. Still too long, but better. I don't know if you can do that with rewire, as I can't use rewire in DP with DAE.
This one area I would like to see MOTU give us some control to rename any MIDI input port. But, that's after they fix all the other broken stuff.

Hi:
i'm trying to get Bidule going by following your tutorial. I did everything you said, but I notice in my Bidule window, there are no "ReWire" modules to connect to and from. It's blank. I'm pretty sure I have reWire installed, because Reasons ins and out show up in my menus, as does Plogues.Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

I don't use Bidule in rewire mode so I may be wrong, but if you have the rewire library installed correctly then once a master app (DP) is launched AND a Bidule input stream is enabled (I think it just shows up as "Plogue Bidule Device: 1-2, 3-4, etc. in DP's bundles), subsequently launching the slave app (Bidule) should automatically put in into rewire mode.
Try this:
launch an empty DP project
create an aux track
set the input to "Plogue Bidule Device 1-2" and the output to a valid output pair
launch Bidule and check to see if the rewire modules are there
Hope that helps

It's strange, because i'm seeing the plogue bidule device as a selection in the input menu when i create an aux track, and when i launch bidule, it says it's in rewire mode, but the main bidule window is empty. maybe i'm missing something in the initial bidule setup ?

hmm..
Try launching Bidule in non-rewire mode, with nothing else running this should be the default. Go to preferences and under the rewire tab make sure that "enable rewire mixer" and "rewire stereo channels" are both checked and the MIDI ports drop down menu is set to something other than 0.
Once that's all set try launching Bidule in rewire and then see if the rewire devices are available. If that still doesn't work I'd suggest dropping seb over at the Bidule forums a line about it, in my experiences he's been really good about support.

I believe I have solved my problem (at least one issue, I'm sure there'll be more!

)
I downloaded version 0.9690, and it seems to work. Without having my Keystation 88es hooked up, or my 828MK3 on, opening it shows the "Bus 1 Apple Computer IAC Driver, the mixer and the output. None of that was there in the version i had (I think it was .093? I d/l'd it a while ago and never really used it. I plan on messing with it more tomorrow.
Thanks.........

This may be a dumb question, but do the Bidule settings and routings get saved with a DP project?

No they don't. i save my Bidule file in the corresponding DP project folder so when i open my DP project i then open my Bidule file. it's really easy and convenient. i have a Bidule orchestral template that i load up or open a recent file that contains instrumentation that i might like and then save that as my new file in a new DP project.
Best of luck.
