8pre problem

Post by Jaike »

Hi all,

This is my first post, unfortunately to ask for help... Thanks in advance for any advice!

I've been using MOTU interfaces (828 MKII and an 8 pre) for about a year, never had a problem, great results, all good.

I use them in conjunction with a MacBook Pro and Logic 8.

Today I've run into a problem with the 8 pre:
- it switches on fine, it receives audio signal fine
- within Logic (and the MOTU Audio Setup), it shows up fine; Logic receives the audio signal from the interface, and you can record sound. In Logic, the output is set to 1-2, and there is signal there is signal in the Master VUs.

BUT, there is no sound from the interface: nothing in the head phones, nothing on Output 1-2, audio or click.

I've tried rebooting, tried the interface in Waveburner, same issue... I don't think it's coming from the Mac or Logic because everything seems to working as usual. Could the output have fried on the interface?

Like I said, any help would be great.

Cheers,

Jaike.

Hi Jaike,

I have the same problem with my 8pre. I've found that if I just turned the MAIN VOLUME knob on the front panel of the 8pre a little bit, everything magically starts working again. I'm interested to see if this magic works for you as well.

Good luck,
