PCI 424 Console Restarts Windows

Here's the symptom: Doing just about anything in the PCI-424 console causes windows to restart immediately. No shutdown, just a black screen and restart.

Here's the background:
I've been successfully using a PCI 424 with a 24i on a Windows XP Pro (dual core AMD) pc for a while now.

Recently I built a machine (quad core AMD) as an upgrade for a friend who's been using the 424 with a 24i/o for years (single core Intel). I configured windows the same way as on my machine, installed all the current service packs, driver updates, etc.

The last thing to go in was the 424.

At first I screwed up and installed the PCI card first, then the driver, and I encountered the symptom described above.

Since then, I've:
Uninstalled the drivers, removed the card, reinstalled the drivers, rebooted, reinstalled the card. No change.
Uninstalled drivers, removed card, rebooted, removed everything called MOTU from the disk and the registry. No change.
Tried both PCI slots.
Tried all 4 audio wire ports.
Removed firewire add on card.
disabled all onboard audio.

No change in behavior. The system recognizes the hardware correctly, but nothing happens when I connect the 24i or 24i/o. Both units just keep blinking 44.1.

I'm about to start over and install the card immediately after the windows install to see if it will work then...

Are there more things I could try before I flatten that PC and go back to square one? MOTU support has been worthless, even a little surly....

If the computer is new and has 3.3V PCI-X expansion slots and the PCI-424 is an old-style 5V PCI Standard model, then the card won't work with that computer. Find out what kind of expansion slots the new motherboard has. If this is the problem, you will need to upgrade to the PCIX-424 card.

I had no idea about the PCI voltage change....the slots on the mobo do appear to be keyed for 3.3v signaling. I didn't see anything in the bios for changing the voltage unfortunately. I'm recommending he get an upgrade to a PCI-e version from MOTU.

Thanks alot for the replies!
