New Member, New MOTU

Hiya all. Well, after months of beating my head against a large market of firewire devices, I landed on the 896 mk3. Probably the reason I picked it was the cool looking factor, plus 8 pre's. And the ability to use as a stand alone mixer. Had been using a ONYX 1640, and just wanted something ultra portable. It's competition was the TC Konnekt 48, and all the girls that were polled picked the MOTU. I don't think there's a ton of difference between the units, and the variety of expansions for the MOTU sealed the deal. First off, I was impressed by the sound quality. Much better than the ONYX. I struggled all evening, with the first night of the new toy, with pops, crackles, and the digitized stuff. Then, after a smoke break, it hit me. I shut off my wireless radio! Problem solved.
Anyway, just wanted to say hey to everyone, got the 896 up and running on a XP machine, a cheapo Sony Viao w 1.6 ghz processor, 2gb ram. Bought it off Craigslist for $200. Eye on a mac in the future, but this is working okay, for now. No idea what will happen if I run another MOTU into this config, but that's down the road yet.
I think the ONYX is going to ebay now.
