I get bursts of static when transferring tracks from my D2424LV to my PC through my MOTU2408 mkii.
I've got three ADAT cables running out of my Fostex into the 2408. I've tried all available combinations of clock settings on the Fostex and the 2408. All it seems to do is change how frequent the bursts of static happen.
The way I think the clock settings should be are Fostex- AUTO, and 2408- PCI internal. Is that right?
Should I try to connect the word clock to the 2408 and use that as the clock? Do I need to connect both the ins and the outs? Or should I try the ADAT control cable from the PCI card to the Fostex?
This static is not present on the recording.
PLEASE HELP!

You are definitely experiencing sample-rate mismatch. My best suggestion is connecting a word clock cable and setting the Fostex clock source to "word" (leave the 2408 set to internal). You can also do the same over ADAT but it would require that you have optical cables going to the inputs as well as the outputs of your Fostex.
