MOTU 828mk2 + Patchbay

Hi guyz,
I am planning on connecting all of my Motu inputs to a patchbay and sth puzzles me.
All the other gear that will be connected are unbalanced ( synths & FX) , so what is the best way to connect the motu inputs to the patchbay, balanced or unbalanced ?
I was thinking of using balanced cables, just in case of a future upgrade.
My question is : if i use TRS jacks for the motu->patchbay connection , will I have any problem routing unbalanced outputs ?
Also , what kind of patch cables are recommended for the current setup , TRS or TS ? ( for the front side of the patchbay)
Any advise about this will be appreciated. I am fairly new to patchbays.
