5.13 Crashing

Hi, I'm mixing a CD project in 5.13 and whenever I hit stop and then play both the stop icon and play icon freezes up and I have to force quit.
Loaded project into a new file and still crashing. I've seen others on the board with the same issue. Any ideas?

First trash DP preferences. DP will rebuild pref file from scratch. Trashing DPs prefs file fixes 95% of any and all odd behavior for me... Of course your DP preferences settings will be gone.
Good luck!
PS: For future use, create a "clean" prefs file:
1. Trash DP prefs
2. Create a new project.
3. Set all preferences the way you like them
4. Make a copy of the preferences file and store it in a folder somewhere called "Clean DP5.13 Pref"
5. Next time you have weirdness, trash the pref file and drag a copy of this "clean" pref file into your DP prefs folder.
Voila, you'll never lose your settings again to a corrupt prefs file.

I wish I knew. 5.13 was perfectly stable for me. It never crashed on me the whole time I was using it. First version of DP since 2.73 that has been so stable. (2.73 is the standard by which I measure all other versions) Brad, has 5.13 been stable for you until now? Did this bug just suddenly start happening? Did you install 6.0x side-by-side with 5.13?
Meanwhile, Kubi's advice will probably yield results.
Just asking... maybe some day we'll figure all this stuff out.

Hey Brad-- I echo the advice of Kubi and Shooshie. I also get the impression that this behavior was not a common one for you. Trashing DP's preferences often eradicates the inexplicable.
But I'll see you Wednesday night-- yes? We can talk about it more then, but if you want me to swing by before Wed, let me know.

Hey guys, thanks for the input. I have had this issue off and on. Thought I had tracked it down, only to be mystified again.
To answer one question; I have not installed DP 6 at all yet. I have tried trashing prefs before when this happened, and to no avail.
I've also done the plug in subtraction process and that cured the crashing, but I still don't know which plug in or combo of plug ins or VI's
is to blame for this malaise. Mr. Frodo, I will see you Weds. night. Looking forward to hearing about your many adventures!
I appreciate all of your help and input.

I'll do the swingin' around here if you don't mind, FluffFoot. Stick to rug running, half-pint. LOL

Hi,
I had a similar problem and the solution was to run waves plug-ins in "only run in real time" . that solved it after 3 months of investigations and frustrations. Haven't had another crash like that since. Try it.

LOL! Too funny. Century, don't mind us; this sort of juxtapositional, two-pronged conversation is typical around here. It's part of what makes our little hideout so fantastic IMHO.
Frodo, I'd assumed that between quests and rug running, you've thus burned sufficient calories to justify that insane appetite. Crikey, how can a pipsqueak like you eat like a brachiosaur and still be... a shrimp? LOL
Mark, what Frodo does in his limited spare time is not my business. LOL

Thanks Jay, I'll give that a go....
Regarding the juxtapositional, two-pronged conversation.....I'll have a pint with my munchies, then I'll cut up the rug.

Ha! Can't wait to see you do the four-step, Brad.
Hang on... that's right - you humans practice a slimmed-down version of that one. Guess it takes longer to cut up the rug then. The pubs must save a fortune. We here in Jungleville have an entire industry working day and night weaving carpets; Junglevillians do love to get down.
May your carpet suppliers never tire.
