Virtual instruments not showing in MIDI outputs

I've got Native Instrumtns Kontakt, B4, Play, Elektrik Piano, Ect
none of these are showing up in the MIDI outputs.
I can select them in create instruments, but can't in a MIDI output. This is really frustrating.
I tried rescanning the Audio units, and they all loaded up ok, but they are greyed out in the bundles.
Any solutions?
This is other issue, but maybe related. Ever since I upgraded to Leopard, my Spectrasonics Trilogy plugin doesn't respond, and I had to delete all
instances of it. Still waiting on tech support to resolve that one.

Hi John:
There have been issues with Spectrasonics for some time. I know that Atmosphere was phased out as Omnisphere appeared. I'm not quite sure what the latest is on Trilogy, except there was some sort of wrapper released as a temporary solution.
As for MIDI channels, have you tried deleting your Preferences from your User Library> Preferences > Digital Performer folder? Sometimes that irons things out-- (same folder as the Audio Unit Info Cache).
Latest versions of your VIs installed?
Do your VIs play at all even on one MIDI channel?
Audio outputs all active (not italicized)?
Two things possible: rebuild your Audio Bundles from scratch and/or rebuild your Audio/MIDI setup from scratch.
Last guess-- reinstall your audio and MIDI drivers-- repair permissions-- shut down, reboot.

Another thing that you could try is loading one of the MOTU VIs like Modulo or Polysynth and see if you have the same problem, you maybe able to at least see if it is a problem isolated to NI or if there's something deeper going on.

Ummm... what version of DP?
The wrapper thing was for Intel Macs, but you're on a dual G5 from your signature. If you're using DP6, I would have advised you to stay on Tiger until some issues are worked out.
Make sure you've assigned your VIs to a valid audio output before looking for them to show up as MIDI inputs. I can't remember, but that might have something to do with it.

I'm using 5.13
I thought I'd download the trilogy wrappers because of some conflict with Leopard, but it may be causing some of this.
You thing DP 6 will clear some of this up.
I don't think Spectrasonics is going to be supporting any of the older stuff which is a drag.

I would stay in 5.13 for now. I don't think DP6 will solve more than it might cause because DP6 has its own considerations. Not bad ones, but just those related to VI compatibility. Spectrasonics was and is among the last to get the Intel platform and Leopard sorted out.
DP6 is great, but the variety of plugin concerns, especially in Leo have sort of given some users pause in terms of jumping forward too quickly.
Glad to hear that dumping the Preferences helped in some way. That's always my first workaround when something inexplicable happens.

Yeah... but Spectrasonics is releasing new versions of Stylus and a successor to Trilogy called Trillian which is Universal Binary... hence should work on PPC still.

Supposed to be a $99 upgrade to Trilogy PPC users.

Get out of the city. Really?
Or should I say, "reallian"?
It's about blankety-blank time (and I don't even have any Spectrasonics stuff)...
