weird PCI-324 issue

At least I think it's weird. But I'm kind of naive with this stuff, which is why I'm asking for help here. (I searched the forum archives to no avail.) OK, so:

I've got an MKII with PCI-324 card. Been very good to me over the years, with no real problems. Card is inside an HP computer running XP. Pretty standard, nothing too tricked out.

But a couple days ago the card quit processing audio, or sending it to the MKII, if that's the right jargon. The computer definitely knows the card is there, at least according to Device Manager. And the IO unit definitely knows the card is there: If I restart the computer, for instance, the unit meters flash red while Windows is rebooting, in that old familiar routine of "Hey, the card quit talking to me." But if I play any sort of audio file -- whether in an editing program, Windows Media Player, whatever -- nothing happens. The MKII meters don't budge and, needless to say, there's no sound.

So I don't know where the disconnect is, or how it originated. I did have a (pretty basic) trojan I had to nuke a few days ago, and this MOTU issue started around the same time, though I can't definitively link the timing. There have been no other significant changes to my system.

Any guidance on how to diagnose -- even simply where to start or how to narrow it down? Sorry if this is really basic stuff. I've never had to teach myself too much about the guts of all this... the durability and performance of my MOTU has kept me blissfully rolling along.

Thanks very much...
Chris

hi

uninstal - reinstall drivers

i think you have to instal drivers before hardware,.

then see what happens,

obvious but usually helps

I had the same thing happen to me recently!I installed the lastest drivers from motu. It did nothing.I'm Instaling the the 324 on a different system in a couple of days to make sure the card still works at all. Let you know what happens.
