Is Trilogy History? Who's to blame?

So I've got DP6 and, as you probably know, Trilogy won't work. So do we just have to eat it, or is anyone going to fix the problem?
Any ideas?

I'm in the same boat Neal and you CAN get it to work. Here's how:

Replace the MAS AudioUnit Support Bundle from version 1.7.0. to 1.6.1 (the one that installs with DP5). Hard Drive/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/MAS

You may need to reinstall DP5 to get that file. You do lose the ability to pre-render VI's.

It's working for me. Spectrasonics is not dropping Trilogy BTW. They will come out with a new version with their own sound engine (STEAM) like Atmosphere to Omnisphere.

When?

We can only wait for THAT answer.......................................

Yeah, you're lucky if you get to run at all. I've had a little luck and when I do I print it asap. But, usually it's not happening. You can load it into DP 5.13, logic, garage band or a demo version of RAX and then retrigger it using IAC and some internal audio routing, which is kind of pain but doable. It's working fine in Logic 8 BTW, or at least fine enough to track and print. I'll be looking forward to the new version whenever it comes out (probably next year?).

I spoke with Spectrasonics. Can't find that email, but they didn't take the blame. They said something might be up just around the corner. Can't remember what.
This sucks!

I think the indications are that Trilogy will be replaced by a new VI that uses the Spectrasonics STEAM engine, the same one that is in Omnisphere.

My real-world guesstimate is - yes, Trilogy is history. There will be no update to Trilogy itself - it will be replaced. I don't know when.
One of the things that always bugged me about Trilogy were those fingered bass samples. They sound like synth basses. I'm sure the replacement
will include almost all new content. The only thing I hope they keep is the acoustic bass from Trilogy - unless they record a better
one.

Many of us have paid "full pop" for VI's and plug-ins that are gone now - Wizooverb was one of them. Virtual Guitarist was another. Bomb Factory native
format plugs were another.

Yeah. Oh well. Hopefully they'll have a nice discount for Trilogy users.

They are very generous with their upgrade policies. No worries there.

This is exactly the sort of thing I just posted about in the Omnisphere thread. To me it's even funnier that the act of a company's taking something away forever with one hand whilst offering a paid alternative with the other is the accepted order of the day. Remember when things were built to last... a lifetime? :?

Hey Big Wave Dave... you know what really sucks. I paid full pop for a bunch of Oberheim synths... And I paid through the nose for the guy to play it. All I ever got out of it was a brownie!

It's working for me and I just checked, I have MAS 1.7.0. & Dp6.01

No idea WHY it's working, I wasn't expecting it to!

It's San Andreas fault.

That was when people weren't expected to live that long. We'd each get one VI from the Salvation Army, and you can be damned sure we were happy to get a VI at all in them days. No one had a computer back then, so the VIs always lasted longer and sounded better in everyone's imagination. Ah, the good old days...

Ha! How did San Andreas manage to bring about this change? :?

no joy for me with trilogy and dp6. i have heavily invested in trilogy for the past 6 years, from an arrangement perspective. that's most definitely in the past now.

thank goodness for minimonsta. i'll be uninstalling/deauthorizing trilogy and stylus in short order.

Use RAX in Rosetta mode. It works fine for me.
