I have an original 828, and trying to connect it to a different computer.

The computer is running Win XP SP3, after installing the driver from motu.com, rebooted, connected the 828 and as it begins to associate the drivers, the computer locks up.

I can not figure out why this is happening!!!

Please help!!!!

It's been years since I sold my 828 - so I dunno for sure, but make sure you have the most up to date driver installed (go to motu.com and grab the latest).
