Is there ANY WAY to make the red lines die. Forever. Never to be seen again. Please. PLEASE.

"Clear Soundbite Tempo" from the Audio menu. Also, set your preferences so DP never analyzes Soundbite tempo automatically. It's under "Automatic Conversions." You'll find and option called "Convert to sequence tempo." Select "Never."

This is the way it works in DP5.13. I'm not using DP6 yet. The DP5 manual has info on page 620. Let us know if it works out for you.

This does get rid of them temporarily. As soon as I cut any files, however, they come right back.

As far as I know, it's a bug. I shouldn't be getting red lines if I recorded audio at a certain tempo and don't change the tempo, right?

I don't know why they don't have a preference for the red lines in the 'graphic editors' preference pane where you can turn off everything else (grid lines, beat lines, marker lines).
Funny thing is, I just opened a project to see if there was a preference, and all my audio soundbites had those damn red lines all over them - I swear they weren't there before, everything was recorded at the current tempo.

I thought it was just me or the martians.

That's correct. But also, if you have tempo changes, and you move or copy/paste a SB elsewhere, where the tempo is different, it will warn you about that with those lines.
I wouldn't call them a "bug". All those lines are telling you is that, for some reason, your soundbite tempo does not match the current tempo. It can be because you accidentally moved it, or you copied it somewhere else, or whatever.

I think it's a bug - sometimes they're red. sometimes they're gray...even when I clear soundbite tempo, and then set soundbite tempo. Bugs me too. Hopefully 6.02 is coming soon (or maybe 6.1...?)

Kinf of OT, but, Amplidood, do you know where to change the color (and thickness if possible) of the beat grid lines - when I set a dark background in the SE, the lines get very faint (esp when the grid is turned off and it's just the bar lines)

I, too, hope for the next DP revision. The good thing is that DP can ONLY become better and better.

I'm sure that the DP3 users thought that too, when they were thinking of upgrading to DP4 with OSX.

Well, in all fairness, DP6.01 IS better than it DP3. There may be some bugs to work out, but DP 5.13 was pretty well evolved, and it most certainly was better than DP3.

Yes, but my point was that DP4 was a dog's breakfast compared to DP3. And in hindsight we'd probably advise DP3/OS9 users to stay with DP3 (which, at the time was kicking the ass out of Cubase VST & Logic (6?)) - until at least DP4.6. With DP6 we finally have a version of DP that seems to be optimised for the operating system, and, as I think you've said in other threads, the sky's the limit from here. DP5, as much as I like it, still has some very obvious shortcomings due to it's patching from OS9 to OSX (like how audio drops out for several seconds if you move a memory locator during playback).

I remembered this thread last nite when I was reading the DP 6 manual (yes, I know, I should get a life!).
Its all explained on page 468, I just thought you might have missed that reference, so I thought I would come back here and make a note of it.
