PC MIDI Flyer under Vista 32 bit parallel to USB adapter

Hello all!

I have been a noob/wannabe computer musician since Pre-Lewinsky America.
I have read as many posts as I could find before posting here.

I find myself today with a Vista notebook running 32 bit premium. My interface is a PC MIDI FLYER.
Since my lappy has no Parallel ports, my theory is to use a parallel to USB adapter and run the device through USB.

My questions are, if this is even possible, what drivers do I need to grab from MOTU, and are there any control panel tweaks you can recommend?

I may be trying to turn an Edsel into a Jaguar, but what the hey, I like the challenge of working with old gear(as well as the price).

Thanks to all who venture a response. I may just lunge forward and try it, the cable is only like $7 USD, so no big.

The PC MIDI Flyer was never supported under Vista, so I doubt that you'll ever find a driver from MOTU that will work. Your best bet is probably to drop a few bills on a MOTU FastLane or M-Audio MIDISport 2x2.

Thanks for your reply. I was afraid you'd say that. :( I just hate to let the Flyer go to waste. It has served me well many a fortnight...

Maybe I'll just have convince the Mrs. that it's necessary to build a dedicated MIDI PC just for the parallel interface and run 98SE.
