Traveler and ProjectMix - Will work?

Hello all.
I'm a proud owner of a MOTU Traveler.
I'm looking into entering the world of ProTools. This requires me to use Digidesign or M-Audio equipment.
If we combine this with my needs of a control surface, the M-Audio ProjectMix sounds like a great solution.
My question is, did anyone try to connect a MOTU device (specifically, Traveler) to the ProjectMix via ADAT (lightpipe)?
Does it work well? Will it allow me to use my Traveler on ProTools (M-Popwered)?
I never worked with ADAT before. How easy it to control the Traveler when it is connected via lightpipe?
Thanks,
Joe.
