Anybody using DP6.01/PPC/Leopard with K3 or FM8

Well... KontaktPlayer2 has always crashed DP 6 and DP 6.01 on my system from the beginning. So I dowloaded demo version of Kontakt 3 and FM8 to see if they work and they BOTH crash DP 6.01 on my system. Is there anybody out there using a system similar to mind and these VIs successfully?

Hi James,
I'm using 6.01 on a MacPro Quad, with 8 GBs of ram, running 10.5.4. I'm running Kontakt 3, and also Storm Drum 2 through the Play engine. Actually I only got Kontakt 3 because I wanted to continue using Storm Drum (1) and Symphonic Choirs - from EastWest/NI, after I found out that neither of the original players were compatible with Leopard/Intel. Then I found out the Symphonic Choirs Wordbuilder app doesn't work with DP6, which pissed me off somewhat. So I've got Kompakt 3 running, but to be honest I don't use it much - I prefer MachFive 2 - I can get it there and do anything, whereas with Kompakt it's a real struggle, and quite a few things don't seem to work. For example - I tried to apply exclusivity to a hi-hat sound - so that the open hats would stop sounding when the closed one was played again, and I couldn't do it. Found the button, but it just didn't work. Simple stuff in MachFive.
However I'm having constant problems with DP6 on Leopard/Intel. And it just crashed my old G5 when I installed it on that so I've kept that as back-up, for old jobs etc, running DP5.13.
On my Intel machine (which I only got up and running when DP6 arrived) I get "Mac OS Error 108 - out of memory", all the time, particularly when clicking on the mixing board tab from the sequence window. But also doing any random task.
It's getting really frustrating now, and in fact everyone else here in our company has gone back to 5.13...

Hi James,
Kontakt 3 works on my system (DP 6.01/PPC/Leopard), no issues at all with it. Unfortunately it is the only NI Plug that works with this system. On the bright side all of my Battery, Elektrik Piano, and Akoustik Piano libraries load into Kontakt 3, so I can still use them to a certain extent. FM8 does not work......

What version of the Dual 2.3 do you have? I have the PCIe (Late 2005) OS 10.5.4 with the Nvidia graphics card and Kontakt 3 runs fine as a plugin in DP 6.01 - multiple instances, etc. If you have the Early 2005 PCI/AGP model, it may be an architecture and/or video card issue with DP if the NI stuff runs standalone with no problem
I posted this in your General Mac thread before seeing this one.

I bought mine as a refurb, but it is definitely not PCIe, but PCIx. There's another variable at work here though. The demo versions are older than the actual versions. So the latest FULL Kontakt 3 may run, but the demo won't. Here's what a friend wrote to me on the MOTU-MAC list:
The demo versions of NI plugs are definitely older than the current
version:
- FM8: current version is 1.0.3.003, demo version is 1.0.1.002
- Kontakt3: current version is 3.0.2.004, demo version is 3.0.1.001
- KontaktPlayer2: current version is 2.2.4.001 (hasn't been updated in
a while)

I downloaded and installed the demo version of FM8 to test and it crashes DP 6.01. So this would indicate the demo vs current version theory.

Ahhh... so maybe buying Kontakt 3 will give me back VI ONE. I think I'll go the cheaper route and buy the FM8 upgrade and see if that gets me up and running with FM7 again.

Slicerecords stated that FM8 does not work - which version?
Ran Service Center Update and current version 1.03 RC2 is crashing DP also.
