I have a new intel mac 10.5.4 even after loading the current drivers my computer doesn't see it. I thought a bad firewire port but I plugged it into my old power pc mac 10.4 and it works. what do I look for?

hi Joe,
i've got the same problem with my 828mk1 using OS X 10.4.11. i've got an 8pre and linked through that i can use it's inputs but not it's outputs. On it's own the mac recognizes it but nothing works. What to do i don't know. Still waiting for a decent response from Motu team who didn't really answer my question properly. if i get a solution i will post it to you.
(let's hope) happy days..
Sean

Hmm. I don't know what to say. My old 828s work fine on my Intel Mac with 10.5.4. Do you have the latest drivers?

Phil

My 828 is seen by the computer but often stops the connection to the Intel iMac. I have to reboot the computer. MOTU told me there is no problem with the MOTU FW-drivers . They say my FW-port is brocken and it's an Apple problem. But all other FW-gear works fine an my iMac.
Still I think MOTU writes bad FW-audio drivers for Intel Macs. Just my opinion.

Sorry (should I use this word ?) to say mine has always worked fine, that is to say for years now.
It still does with latest driver (MacBookIntel / Tiger).

My 828 Classic works fine for a half hour or so with an Intel MacBook Pro (OSX 10.4.11), but soon starts having audio dropouts and then goes completely dead, usually requiring a reboot to get going again. I honestly can't say if this is more likely to be MOTU's issue or Apple's, but wouldn't it be nice if they could work together towards a resolution, instead of putting us as customers in the middle?
