Help Please....828 mk3 inputs

Hi Guys

Just bought and trying out an 828 mk3, on a pc with windows xp sp3 using cubase sx 3.
I have another week before I have to send it back, if I don't like it.
but I must say I'm quite happy with it so far................

But

when I came to record more than 2 inputs at the same time, anything above the first 2 inputs won't record.
The signals travel through the motu meters on the front panel (inputs and outputs) so the 828 seems to be functioning properly,

I assumed it was the vst connections (not having enough busses open).
So I created some more input busses, thinking for sure that this must be the problem but still, anything over the first 2 inputs, will not work.

e.g.

I create a stereo input buss, left and right ...........
choose the audio device (motu audio asio)
and select the device port left = 3 analog 1 right = 4 analog 2.
So if I plug my preamp into channel 1 or 2 on the rear of the 828 everything works as it should.
Its when I create another input buss and assign the anolog channels say 5analog 3 6analog 4 that when plugging my preamp into the corresponding input channels on the rear nothing in cubase is seeing any input, but it is showing on the front panel meters of the 828
Does anyone know whats going on, cos this is driving me mad.
I'm hoping its a setting that needs to be applied, that I have overlooked.
I hope someone can help me or I'm going to have to send this back.

I'm not any good at this, but by chance are you running WDM instead of ASIO for the drivers in your application?

Hi

Thanks for the quick reply.......
I've checked the vst audiobay and it definately says "motu audio asio" in the master asio driver box.

Anyone else

cheers

OK
I've sorted it.
It turns out that nothing would show in the activity window in cubase unless it came from the first buss of inputs, but if tracks were enabled and recorded as normal I would have seen the wav file being created.

DOH......
It was a long day yesterday

cheers
