upgrade card for '02 quicksilver

Post by proton »

i have an '02 quicksilver dual 1ghz that works fine, until recently--bad external cache causing frequent crashes/panics.

can anyone recommend a cpu upgrade card?

where are the powerlogix dual upgrades--can't find them on the owc site
gigadesigns doesn't have a website?
don't the sonnet's and newer's have L3 cache?

thanks for any help!

I have 2 quicksilvers - one with a Sonnet Encore 1.4ghz cpu upgrade card (no longer available) and one with a 1.8ghz Sonnet Encore cpu upgrade card. Both work really well and have made a big difference.

Also have a QS with the Sonnet 1.4 and love it. Just put it in my wife's 4th grade classroom with a 22" flat screen. She's so impressed with me now :)

...i chose a sonnet dual 1.3 GHz cpu card. discontinued, direct from manufacturer, thru ebay, selling limited supply w/1yr warranty. installed card today and it seems to work fine. i love the fan-attached-to-heat-sink idea.

30% speed bump
cost half of what apple wanted to replace logic board
this model has 2Mb L3 cache/cpu, unlike the new sonnet duets (1.8, 1.6 GHz)
all positive feedback on this item and seller, too

thanks for your input, gentlemen.
cheers
