Peculiar MIDI issue

Hello all,
Here's an odd bit: When I use the "wait for note" function while recording MIDI the resulting note is not placed on the beat upon which it is recorded, always somewhat after. Sometimes :007 ticks, sometimes :009, maybe :027, whatever. To be clear, the sequence is sitting at, say, Bar 5:000, waiting for me to play a note, I play a note, starting the sequencer, etc. when I go back and look at the data the first note I played has been placed somewhere later than 5:000. In my many years of MIDI I've never seen this, and I go back to pre-Commodore 64 sequencing. Granted this is not a huge problem--I can edit the notes, but what is causing this?

Don't have an answer - but had to comment on how that, in spite of all the progress made where computers are concerned, it's surprising how many times I've complained to tech support people (while trying to solve a glitch) "My Commodore 64 used to do this PERFECTLY"

I've been having the same problem as well, but it only seems to be since going to 4.52.
I also have an issue where the playback is wrong...perhaps someone can help:
Say I have a MIDI trigger for a kick on its own track. The kick is 4/4 falling on the 1,2,3 & 4. Say that this phrae is from measure 5 to 9. When looping, if the kick that falls on measure 5, beat 1 will only play on the first loop (sometimes). When it loops back around, the first kick doesn't trigger.
Perhaps this is related.
Anyone know?
Chris

I don't know if this is related, but in DP if I use keycomands to set loop from selected area then the loop is not perfect at it seems to play the last note "twice" ontop of each other... but if I use the minimenu next to the region selection area then the loop is perfect... don't know if this helps...
r.

hi,
i have the problem of losing the first beat in a loop as well and it really shits me.Also has anyone noticed when you record a synth's audio from a MIDI track the audio isn't perfect. It tends to waiver before and after the MIDI note it was triggered from. It's relatively inaudible but if you magnify the audio wave you can see it's all over the place.I tried a test on pro-tools and found the same thng.Any ideas?

Yes, follow MOTU's instructions in the Getting Started guide on pp27-28 for calibrating MIDI/Audio timing. They even provide the MIDI file to do this.
