Cool!
Which size allen key did you use? (the set I have is either slightly too big or too small)
Do your 828's transformers make a soft buzzing noise?

By everything, do you mean the LCD and possibly the knobs?

I stand corrected: the Texas Instruments DSP chip is made in Malaysia.

Hi All,
Noobie (on here anyway!), but have been a long-term user of MOTU hardware.
I too have an 828 mk2 with a blown backlight. Spoke to MusicTrack (UK people), and they offered me a new item (whole 828) for £100...
Seemed a good price, but still a bit steep considering that it's
only a backlight that's gone.
Does anybody have an equivalent part number (say from CPC or similar) - £25ish seems alot easier to swallow than £100!!
Cheers,
Dan

They are probably trying to clear the warehouse of old stock. Take their offer and just put a brick about the same weight in the package you send back. That way you get an 828MkII for a hundred bucks, no toxic waste gets shipped back to China to get dumped under the O-Lymphic Stadium, AND you have a store of spare parts if anything else fails (e.g. the odd screw).

LOL!!
Yeh, good call about the stock.
However, I quite fancy getting my soldering iron "dirty".....
Any ideas where to get the backlight from?

This is what I found inside my brand new 828 mk II a couple of years ago...
.. it was working just fine so I moved the ribbon to one side, bolted it back together, and it's been fine ever since !!!
