"... a Mac Pro using a 2.80 GHz processor can be overclocked to higher performance than the fastest 3.20 GHz model" ?
If it's free, I'm in!
Couldn't find any links on the page to further investigate.
Thank you for the heads-up, KG.

hi Monkey: this does looks pretty cool,
except for warranty issues....................................
it could cause problems.
I'm curious what Sdemott would think of this and if it potentially created a risk to the mac beyond the benefits???

Agreed; Steve knows his stuff.
More info would be helpful too.
I mean, if it's so easy and not harmful to the hardware, why isn't Apple selling the 2.8GHz -3.2GHz Mac Pro range as 3.2GHz - 3.6GHz?
My guess is that long-term reliability must have been questionable, as you'd think Apple would crank the CPUs to the safest maximum limit it could determine.

"ZDNet Clock does not use any voltage increase for the CPU, the front-side bus (FSB) or the memory modules, the site said, which should not artificially degrade the components any faster than they would be."
I'm troubled by their use of the word "should." People who know more about this than I have warned that overclocking heats up cores. Heat kills.
I'd want to see some third-party proof before I'd try this at home.
